Families come into our building sincerely desiring affordable Christian education from a certified trauma-trained staff that teach their child resiliency and restoration. Studies show that traumatic experiences in childhood can diminish concentration, memory and the organizational and language abilities children need to succeed in school. For some children, this can lead to problems with academic performance, inappropriate behavior in the classroom, and difficulty forming relationships. Learning about the impacts of trauma can help keep us from misunderstanding the reasons underlying some children’s difficulties with learning, behavior and  relationships.

AnchorPoint is a safe, supportive environment where students make the positive connections with adults and peers they might otherwise push away, calm their emotions so they can focus and behave appropriately, and feel confident enough to advance their learning.

The Core Attributes of AnchorPoint that make us a Trauma-Sensitive School are:

  • School leadership and staff share an understanding of trauma’s impact on learning and the need for a whole-school approach.
  • The school supports all students to feel safe physically, socially, emotionally and academically.
  • The school addresses students’ needs in holistic ways, including their relationships, self-regulation, academic competence, and physical and emotional well-being.
  • The school explicitly connects students to the school community and provides multiple opportunities to practice skills.
  • The school embraces teamwork and staff share responsibility for all students.
  • Leadership and staff anticipate and adapt to the ever-changing needs of students.

We offer families distinctively Christian programming by trauma-certified staff that is focused on innovative, experiential learning in nurturing learning communities. Our staff teach the core curriculum; specialists integrate art, band,  library, music, physical education, Spanish, speech, and technology, along with enrichment and encouragement sessions. AnchorPoint is of the Christian tradition, a member of Christian Schools International, and a member of AllBelong to receive support in meeting students’ individual special needs and challenges..

Parents and guardians know they are providing their children with an affordable education that has a strong academic and biblical foundation. Our Christian, caring, experienced teachers are committed to partnering with families in all aspects of each child’s development.

ANCHORPOINT! An anchor can hold a boat from drifting in the wind and the waves. Our Anchor is a point of hope, hope in Jesus Christ and the saving work he did for us. But an anchor does nothing for a boat unless it is tied to it with a rope. We are tied to our Anchor Jesus with a rope called faith. We tell the good news—in Jesus there is hope, so tie on to the Anchor with a rope of faith.

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. I think you’ll agree with me that Hebrews 6:19 is a very appropriate Bible verse for AnchorPoint Christian School—our gift from God!
